We have three campuses at the University of Glamorgan. Our main Treforest Campus, Glyntaff Campus and the ATRiuM in the heart of Cardiff. Please select the campus that you require:

Visiting the Treforest campus

By road

Visiting Glamorgan is especially easy via the M4 motorway. Just head for junction 32 and take the A470 northbound toward Merthyr Tydfil.

Exit at the Llantrisant signpost for the A473, then take the first exit at the roundabout which takes you across the river. Keep in the left hand lane and turn left at the junction, keep in the left hand lane and follow the road (You should see the River Taff on your left) stay on this road and keeping left when the road splits into two. You should pass underneath the Railway bridge and the University is on the right.

Parking at Treforest

The visitors car park is located opposite the main Campus if you are approaching the University from the A470 turn left at the mini roundabout at the main campus.

Alternative parking

Park and Ride

Park and ride schemes are available at a number of mainline railway stations in the area, including Radyr, in Cardiff, and Merthyr Tydfil, as well as in various other stations along the Arriva Trains Wales network. For more information, visit Arriva Trains Wales website

Public car parks

There are three public car parks in Pontypridd, in Sardis Road, Berw Road and the Goods Yard all at £1 for 4 hours or £2 for all day. All often have good availability of spaces. Please note these are not University car parks and commercial rates apply. You can use websites like www.transportdirect.info to find local public car parks by entering the relevant postcode.

Treforest campuses by rail

Train users should head for the nearby Treforest station (and not the Treforest Industrial Estate stop), just a couple of minutes walk from the main campus.

All campuses are easily accessible by public transport, with regular train services running between Merthyr and Cardiff every 12 minutes at peak times and frequent bus services between Pontypridd and Llantrisant stopping outside the Treforest campus approximately every 15 minutes.

From Cardiff: Trains run approximately every 15 minutes and generally leave from platform 6, bound for either Treherbert, Merthyr Tydfil or Aberdare. For timetable enquiries visit Arriva Trains Wales.

From London: Gatwick and Heathrow airports have rail links to Cardiff. You are advised to buy tickets on arrival, with prices depending on departure time.

A regular mainline service running between London Paddington and Fishguard, Ceredigion, operates to Cardiff. Information and schedules: National Rail Enquiries, 08457 48 49 50.

Visiting the Glyntaff campus

By road

Our Glyntaff Campus is close to the Treforest campus so head for junction 32 on the M4 and take the A470 northbound toward Merthyr Tydfil.

Exit at the Llantrisant signpost for the A473, then take the second exit for the Glyntaff campus. You will come to a set of traffic lights soon after leaving the roundabout, take a right turn here on to Cemetery Road which will take you to the Campus

Visiting the Glyntaff campus by rail

The Glyntaf Campus is a 10-minute walk from the train station and train users should head for the nearby Treforest station (and not the Treforest Industrial Estate stop). If you cross over the railway bridge and walk down Castle Street you will see a bridge in across the River Taff, cross this and then cross Cardiff Road and bare left. Go under the A470 and keep on bearing left and take the road in front of you up to a set of lights, turn right here and the campus is straight ahead.

Visiting ATRiuM

The postcode for the ATRium for your SatNav is CF24 2FN. The easiest and quickest route to the ATRiuM is to head for Junction 33 on the M4. However you can also exit at Junctions 32 and 29, please follow the directions below for all three routes.


Directions from J33 of the M4

Leave the M4 at J33. Head south, signposted Cardiff Bay on the A4232. Continue for approx 5 miles, cross the bridge over Cardiff Bay, and continue through the Butetown Tunnel. Turn left at the roundabout, and then continue across the following roundabout, onto the A4234 dual carriageway, signposted City Centre (you will see the Atlantic Wharf on your right). Continue until the end, then turn left onto the A4160, ATRiuM is on your right.

Directions from J32 of the of the M4

Leave the M4 from J32. Head south on the A470, signposted Cardiff City Centre. Continue on the A470 (North Road) until you reach the City Centre. As you approach a set of lights (Cardiff University is on your left and a long car park on your right turn left onto the Boulevard De Nantes past City Hall on your left.

Stay on this road and drive under the railway bridge at the next set of traffic lights you will need to to turn right into Fitzalan Place. Cross the first set of traffic lights and bear right at the next set (You should see the Fire Station on your left). Cross the next set of traffic lights and ATRiuM is on your right.


Directions from J29 of the M4

Leave the M4 from J29. Turn left onto the A48(M) signposted M4 Cardiff, (Caerdydd). After approx 4 miles, take the turning signposted Docks and Cardiff East. Then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto Southern Way – A4161 (signposted Docks, Cardiff East). Keep left, signposted City Centre then at roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Newport Road – A4161 (signposted City Centre) Continue on Newport Road for approx 1.5 miles. Turn left into Fitzalan Place (next left after the Holland House Hotel), signposted Penarth. Go straight on at a set of signals, then bear right onto Adam Street. The fire station will be on your left. Continue through another set of signals . ATRiuM is on the right.

Parking at ATRiuM

There is a large car park opposite the Atrium Building on Adam Street, alternative parking can be found at knox Road. You need to turn left off Fitzalan Place to reach Knox Road Car Park if you are coming from the Atrium building, please see the map below.

ATRiuM by rail

The closest station is Cardiff Queen Street station, but both Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Central are within walking distance. Download our visitors guide for walking instructions.

Travelling by coach

National Express connects the UK, including Gatwick and Heathrow airports, to Cardiff, from where alternative transport is required to the university’s main campus in Treforest.

Coaches operate between 7.00am and 11.00pm. Seats can be booked on arrival at the airports or in advance online or by telephone. National Express: 08705 80 80 80.

Alternatively, Megabus operates a low-cost service to and from Cardiff, with savings for advance booking. Megabus.

Travelling by air

The main regional terminal, Cardiff International Airport, is 12 miles southwest of the capital’s centre and 20 miles from our main campus.

A regular airbus service operates between the airport and the city, while an hourly rail link also connects Rhoose (one mile from the airport and reachable via shuttle bus) with Cardiff.
