Vision

“The University of Glamorgan will be recognised as an international university with a distinctive approach to research, innovation and the student experience.”

By 2014, Glamorgan will be characterised by being recognised as having:

  • National and international recognition for learning, teaching and research excellence
  • A balanced student population with increased numbers of postgraduate students
  • Improved progression and completion rates
  • Academic staff teaching at the forefront of their scholarly discipline
  • Professional support and administrative staff
  • Recognition as a provider of skills development, enterprise, innovation and knowledge for private, public and voluntary organisations
  • A distinctive portfolio of excellent and relevant academic programmes underpinned by cutting edge scholarship and practice and providing effective, embedded development of professional skills
  • High rates of progression to appropriate employment or further study
  • High levels of satisfaction across all aspects of the student experience
  • Attractive, modern and vibrant facilities at all campuses
  • First class technology based systems
  • Internationally acclaimed research centres across a number of strategically focused areas
  • Recognition as an accessible, flexible, responsive and valuable partner for multi-disciplinary and collaborative research and development

Strategic Priorities

In order to achieve the vision, five strategic priorities will be taken forward during the period 2009–14:

  1. To be a University of first choice; for students, staff, business and the community
  2. To provide distinctive, relevant learning and employment focused opportunities that inspire the pursuit of academic excellence
  3. To provide a high quality experience that addresses the aspirational, social and technological needs of our students
  4. To be recognised by all key stakeholders as a significant research-active university conducting user valued research with specific relevance to the major challenges facing society
  5. To pursue strategic partnerships and external engagement opportunities in the UK and overseas that provide both reputational gain and added benefit to the University

Values Statement

Underpinning the vision and key strategic priorities, the University will strive to adhere to the following principles and philosophy in all of its activities:
